Warranty
How the New Jersey Seamless warranty works
The New Jersey Seamless warranty comes in two parts: our written workmanship warranty, which covers how the job was installed, and the manufacturer’s warranty on the materials and the paint finish. You see both in writing before you sign.
- 5 on Google (12 reviews)
- Lifetime workmanship warranty for as long as you own the home
- Free written estimates
Our terms
What is covered by our workmanship warranty?
The installation itself: the way we fastened, flashed, sealed and trimmed the work. If something we put on fails because of how we put it on, we come back and repair it under the terms in your contract.
Our workmanship warranty is a lifetime warranty: it covers our installation work for as long as you, the homeowner who signs the contract, own the home. It does not transfer to a later owner. Materials and paint finishes carry their manufacturers' own warranties, and the full written warranty comes with every estimate so you can read it before you sign. The length and the exact terms are printed in your contract. Should this page and the warranty section of your signed contract ever disagree, the contract wins. The state’s home improvement practices rules (section 13:45A-16.2) expect any contract above $500 to spell out the job’s warranty.
Workmanship problems look like this: a leak at flashing we installed, a seam or trim piece that works loose, a gutter that pulls away from the fascia, or a siding course that was not fastened right.
Two kinds of coverage
Workmanship warranty vs manufacturer warranty: who covers what?
We stand behind the labor and the installation. The manufacturer stands behind the product.
| Question | Our workmanship warranty | Manufacturer warranty |
|---|---|---|
| What it covers | How the work was installed: fastening, flashing, seams, sealing and trim | The product itself: panels, shingles, siding or windows, and the paint finish |
| A typical problem | A leak at a flashing detail or a loose trim piece | Perforation from corrosion, or paint that peels, chalks or fades past the limits in the warranty |
| Who stands behind it | New Jersey Seamless | The company that made the product |
| Where the terms live | Your signed contract | The maker’s warranty document for your product and color |
| How a claim starts | Call or email us with photos | Call or email us; we take it to the maker alongside you |
Manufacturers write their own rules, and those rules change from product to product. That is why we show you the actual warranty document for the panel, finish or siding you pick, not a brochure summary.
Paint finishes
What does a metal roof finish warranty actually cover?
Usually two separate promises that expire at different times. One is film integrity: the paint keeps its grip on the metal. The other is chalk and fade: a cap on how far the color may drift.
On PVDF paint, Sheffield Metals reports that film adhesion coverage commonly lasts 20 to 40 years, while the chalk and fade side is shorter, somewhere from 10 to 30 years with the color making the difference. When an SMP finish advertises 40 years, Sheffield notes, that figure usually refers to adhesion alone, and its chalk and fade terms trail PVDF’s.
MBCI, to take one maker, lists the same pair of terms on both its SMP and PVDF lines: 30 years on colorfastness and 40 years on film integrity. MBCI also says those terms can change for buildings in harsh coastal or industrial surroundings. Read both numbers, and ask about your color, before you compare quotes.
Our standing seam page compares the two paint systems in more depth.

Shore homes
Does salt air change a metal roof warranty?
Often, yes. Plenty of panel warranties shrink or vanish once a house sits close to salt water.
Metal Sales writes its Galvalume panel warranty to leave out any site nearer than 1,500 feet to salt water, and it shuts out salt-spray zones and marine atmospheres too. Sheffield Metals sketches a tiered pattern that many Galvalume warranties follow: no coverage inside 1,500 feet of surf, inside 800 feet of shoreline on a large bay, or inside 400 feet of marshland.
That Metal Sales warranty also drops coverage where water drains onto the panels from copper or lead flashing. Planning copper half-round gutters on a house with a Galvalume roof? We route the copper’s drainage so it does not run across the steel.
On a lot close to the ocean, the back bays or Raritan Bay, the fine print gets compared with your exact address before any metal is chosen. Our guide to shore roofs and salt air covers the options.

What usually voids a roofing or siding warranty?
Most warranties exclude damage that neither the installer nor the product caused. These are the usual exclusions.
- Alterations or repairs by someone else, such as a dish, a vent or a patch added after the job.
- Unapproved holes through the panels for solar racking, antennas or lights. Seam-gripping clamps (one maker is S-5!) can hold equipment without drilling, so check with us before anything gets bolted to the roof.
- Skipped basic upkeep: clogged gutters, piles of leaves left on the roof, or branches rubbing the surface.
- Storm damage beyond what the product is rated to handle, such as falling limbs or extreme wind.
- Conditions a warranty names outright. Metal Sales’ Galvalume terms, as an example, rule out contact with copper, lead or wet lumber, and slopes under 1/4:12.
Your contract lists the exclusions that apply to our workmanship warranty. Ask about anything that is unclear before you sign. If you expect to add solar panels, raise it early so the attachment method protects both warranties.
Making a claim
How do you file a warranty claim with us?
Get in touch by phone or email, describe the problem and attach photos.
- Call (732) 231-5327 or write to info@newjerseyseamless.com with your name, your address and the rough date of the job.
- Send two kinds of photos: a wide shot showing where on the house the problem is, and a close-up. For a leak, add the stain on the ceiling or in the attic.
- We book a visit, show you the cause, and explain which warranty, if any, covers it: ours, the maker’s, or neither.
- For a material or finish problem, we take the claim to the manufacturer with you and supply the installation records it asks for.
If water is coming in, say so when you call. While you wait for the visit, move belongings, catch the drips and photograph everything.
Paperwork
Do you need to register a manufacturer warranty?
Sometimes. Some manufacturers issue or confirm coverage only after the product is registered, so we tell you which of yours need it.
At signing, the contract names the main products and finishes going on your house, because New Jersey’s rules require it to describe the main materials. At the final walk-through we hand over the manufacturer documents and go through any registration steps with you. Keep them with your contract. Together they make up your warranty file.

Questions
Warranty questions
How long is the New Jersey Seamless workmanship warranty?
It is a lifetime workmanship warranty: it covers our installation work for as long as you, the homeowner who signs the contract, own the home, and it does not transfer to a later owner. Materials and paint finishes carry their makers’ own warranties. You get the full written warranty with your estimate, so you can read every word before signing, and where this website and your signed contract differ, the contract governs.
What is the difference between film integrity and chalk and fade coverage?
Film integrity coverage promises the paint stays bonded to the metal, with no peeling, cracking or flaking. Chalk and fade coverage caps how much the color may chalk or shift over the years. Sheffield Metals reports that the chalk and fade side is often the shorter of the two and varies by color.
Will mounting solar panels void my metal roof warranty?
Holes drilled through the panels can. Clamps designed for standing seam hold on to the seams instead, and S-5!, which makes them, states that the method keeps roof warranties in force. Let us know before installation day so the roof and the solar plan line up.
Can a shore address limit my roof warranty?
Yes. Metal Sales, for instance, excludes sites nearer than 1,500 feet to salt water, marine atmospheres and salt spray from its Galvalume warranty, and other makers set their own limits. We compare those limits with your address before recommending a metal.
What should I send with a warranty claim?
Your name and address, the approximate date of the work, a short description of the problem, and photos: one wide shot that shows where it is on the house and one close-up. A copy of your contract helps us pull up the job details.
Is storm damage covered by the warranty?
Usually not when the storm goes beyond what the product is rated to handle, such as a falling tree or wind stronger than the product’s rating. That kind of damage falls outside most warranties. If a storm exposes an installation problem, we treat that as a workmanship issue.
